There isnt any right or wrong shape, whatever you feel the best in is what works for you! However, if you'd like our advice this is what we'd suggest!

How to find your body shape is the hardest part so heres a simple guide to knowing!

Common Body Shapes

  • Hourglass: Your bust and hip measurements are roughly equal, and your waist is clearly smaller and well-defined.

  • Pear (Triangle): Your hips are wider than your shoulders and bust, often with a defined waist.

  • Inverted Triangle: Your shoulders or bust are noticeably broader than your hips.

  • Rectangle (Straight): Your bust, waist, and hips are close to the same width with minimal curves.

  • Apple (Round): Your midsection and bust are fuller, with little waist definition and narrower hips or limbs.

When it comes to wedding dresses certain styles suit almost every body type, whereas others dont compliment quite as much. Your stylist will be able to guide you to the best styles for your body and make suggestions for the best look!

An A-Line style is fitted to the body and goes out at the natural waist (traditionally) An A-Line can also be a drop waist but these don't compliment every body type.

Perfect for: Hourglass, Pear, Inverted triangle, Rectangle and Apple.

The next style is Ball Gown, a true princess dress. Whilst similar to an A-Line, the ballgown comes out more dramatically from the waist.

We find the only body type a ballgown doesn't compliment as well is an apple as the fullness at the top of the skirt is at the waist line, which can make an apple body type look wider.

Perfect for: Hourglass, Pear, Inverted Triangle and Rectangle.

The Fit n Flare is a gorgeous style on many bodies. Many women believe they can't wear a fit n flare because they don't have the curves or they're 'too' curvy. This is just wrong! We actually find if you're a rectangle shape, a fit n flare with illusion panelling on the sides give the illusion of curves! The pear shaped women can also wear a fit n flare, to even out the silhouette, simply add off the shoulder sleeves or wear a plunge neckline to add visual width to the top of the body.

Perfect for: Hourglass, Pear and Rectangle.

The Mermaid, different from a fit n flare with the bottom of the gown dramatically flaring out around the knees with a visible separation from the fitted hips and bodice.

It emphasises the curves through the body and perfect for brides who want to show their shape

Perfect for: Hourglass, Pear and Inverted Triangle

The text presents the information in an orderly and understandable way. I found the way the different aspects are connected useful. I read the article in full without skipping any part. It is content that deserves to be read calmly and carefully.
